Back at it...

I apologize for my absence. It has been a very busy and stressful few months. We have moved, bought our first house (which is a fixer upper) and the hubby has just recently deployed to Afghanistan. Among other things of course. So while things are not in as much order as I would have hoped they would be at this point. I am finding it necessary to pick up the crafts again.

My brain is jumping with ideas and I miss sharing them here....

So with that, I made a little ear warmer headband today, thought I would share...

Lovely to see you back, Mrs. And on the hook. Clever chook, you.

PS. Any consolation? We have a fixer upper too. Five years later and we're, er, wondering where we should start. Ahem.

I only just found your blog a few months back. After reading your last post in August, I just now checked in and was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't miss much! So glad you are back to blogging and hand crafts! Wishing you the best with your new fixer-upper home. We bought one last year, too. I'm learning to be patient! xo

Phew! I was wondering if you were having a stressful time. Safe thoughts to your hubby. This pattern looks like another triumph.

I am brand new to crocheting and REALLY want to make this headband but am getting confused over some of the directions (even though I know they are super easy) :(

Could someone please help me and let me know whether the Ch 56 is the actual starting ch. And if not, what would the starting ch be? And is row 1 not directly connected to the starting chain?

Anyone with amazing patience who would like to give me pointers would be extremely welcome!

I'm pretty experienced at crochet, but I'm finding these directions difficult to follow. The pattern begins with "chain 56, join to starting chain." How long is the starting chain? If 56 is the starting chain, it doesn't seem long enough to encompass the complete length of this beautiful creation. Please clarify. I'm lost.

I know you have a very busy life, but I would love to make this or some version of it. Please help.

Thanks so much for the pattern! I made this in about an hour, but I would've been able to do it much more quickly if I weren't in la-la land due to pain medication. lol I used some hot pink Red Heart that was in the bottom of my yarn bag & I'm going to embellish it with a big flower made from a Lion Brand Homespun yarn in a color that's called something berry-related. lol I hope to post a pic when I've done that, but couldn't wait to say thank you (in case I forget later).

@AnnieFannie...since you already made it, could YOU please clear up the directions because I'm confounded.

@Tee-oz and Anonymous : I just made this and the ch 56 is the starting chain. You connect ch #56 to #1 making sure not to twist the chain. And I had to use a K hook to make this fit my noggin. Hope that helps.

I'm making this for my daughter, love the pattern!! I do have a question about the 2dc cluster though. On the pattern it just says to insert hook in stitch, Pull up loop & draw through 2, then repeat & draw through all 3....but unless u wrap ur yarn before inserting in your chain/stitch u won't have 3 loops in the end to pull through. I'm just a little confused so any advice would so greatly b appreciated!! :) thank u!

Ok, I feel stupid. Lol! I figured out the YO ment yarn over. After that I was good. :)

I'm trying to make a gift for my sis, I did the ch 56 and it seems tiny! I couldn't even fit it over my 2 year old's head! I'm sad, I really like this and was looking forward to making it but I don't want to try and figure out sizing.

Unknown said...

I'm sorry b-fab. Are you using the correct hook and yarn weight? You can go up a hook size or two to make it bigger.

How did you make it narrower in the back than the front?

Beautiful headwrap, you are so creative. Thank you for sharing your pattern. I will try it out. God Bless and keep you. Glad to see you're back. I'm new to your post. I know what moving is like, first house - EEK! Our 5 year plan has turned into 20 LOL

So this did not work at all. The double clusters were way stretchier than the original 56 chain (which I had already modified since 56 is miniscule) so that the finished headband was incredibly lopsided. Should really check this for accuracy before posting.

I just decided to make it without joining it in a circle. I added a button hole to one aide and a button to the other. Worked well for me
